UCUMAR

También Ucumari y Ucumare. Es el hombre-oso, al que se representa en distintos grados de hibridación: desde un oso muy peludo y terriblemente feo, con rasgos humanoides, hasta un hombre bestial, enteramente cubierto de pelos, larga barba y frente angosta. Vive en cuevas, en el fondo de las quebradas, pero merodea ríos y vertientes, bañándose en ellos. Según algunas versiones, además de fuerte es ágil, y puede treparse a los árboles más altos.
Su leyenda tiene fuerte tintes sexuales, pues se lo acusa de raptar mujeres y llevarlas a vivir con él, para tener hijos. Suele aparecerse de improviso, aterrorizando al que lo ve. Si se le grita, responde de lejos con voces de gente. Si los perros lo atacan, se defiende a garrotazos.
Esta leyenda se extiende por todo el noroeste, hasta Santiago del Estero.



Also Ucumari and Ucumare. It is the man-bear, to which is represented in different hybridization degrees: from a very hairy and terribly ugly bear, with human features, until a bestial man, entirely covered with hair, long beard and narrow front. He/she lives in caves, in the bottom of the gulches, but it marauds rivers and slopes, taking a bath in them. According to some versions, besides strong it is agile, and it can be climbed to the highest trees.
Their legend has strong sexual tints, because it accuses him to him of to abduct women and to take them to live with him, to have children. He/she usually appears unexpectedly, terrifying the one that you see it. If he/she is screamed, he/she responds from a distance with people's voices. If the dogs attack it, he/she defends to blows.
This legend extends for the whole northwest, until Santiago del Estero.
